Support riders needed at ICAP L’Etape London by Le Tour de France

24th August 2016

Are you a confident cyclist who would like be part of this exciting event by helping less experienced riders in a cycling role, and earn a free Human Race event entry in return?

Next month sees the return of the ICAP L’Etape London by Le Tour de France on Sunday 25th September; an open road ride that takes in much of Stage Three of the 2014 Tour de France route and finishes in the Lee Valley VeloPark at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

We are looking for experienced cyclists who would be interested in helping out the less confident riders on the day by being part of our Support Rider Team. This would involve leading groups of up to around 10 riders on the final 12km of the route from the Woodford area (exact location TBC) to the finish line, including the lap of honour on the road circuit at the Lee Valley VeloPark!

It is a great opportunity to utilise your local cycling knowledge and experience to improve rider confidence across the cycling community, which will hopefully encourage more nervous riders both on the day and beyond! In return for your contribution to this event, you will receive the following:

  • Free entry to one of our Human Race events (see exclusions below)
  • An ICAP L’Etape London by Le Tour de France t-shirt
  • An event medal (you will be crossing the finish line with your group after all!)

This would take around 2 hours starting from the meet time (you will be cycling at the pace of the slowest rider in the group) with meet times between 1:30pm and 5:00pm, and you will need to come with your own bike and helmet (a high-vis vest will be provided). Interested cyclists can email to register their interest and preferred start time by 5th September. Full event information can be found on our website:

For the free event entry, you can choose any event taking place after the ICAP L’Etape London from our portfolio at however unfortunately the following events are excluded from this; L’Etape London by Le Tour de France, Woburn Abbey Triathlon, Windsor Triathlon, Dragon Tour, Dragon Ride L’Etape Wales by Le Tour de France and the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run. Please note not all of the 2017 events / dates are live on the website yet and so you don’t need to confirm which event you would like an entry for on sign up, this can follow after the event.
