Open water swimming joins sparkling Diamond Tri line-up
3rd June 2015
Swimmers can now join the incredible atmosphere and multi-sport fun at Human Race Event’s Diamond Tri on Sunday 6 September. Four distances of open water swim have been added to the schedule, with the options of 1, 2, 3 or 4k waves available in the calm and clear man-made lake at Eton Dorney. Places in these recently introduced waves are limited as the event also includes a number of triathlon distances, including a range of relays, which will use the lake.
“The demand from our swimming audience and seeing over 1,200 people have a great time at the recent Eton Swim has inspired us to introduce these new waves” said Nick Rusling from organisers Human Race. “We are really excited that we will be welcoming more swimmers to Dorney Lake for Diamond Tri joining hundreds of triathletes who have already signed up”.
As with all Human Race Events a fully trained water safety team will be present throughout to ensure the wellbeing of all participants. Everybody who completes a swim at Diamond Tri will be rewarded with a t-shirt to commemorate the day and also be texted their completion time directly to their phone. It forms part of the larger Human Race triathlon series that also features the popular Lidl BananaMan, Wiggle SteelMan and Shock Absorber Women Only Challenge.
Diamond Tri was launched in 2012 to coincide with both the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics. It is home to a number of triathlon distances with the aim of encouraging people of all abilities to take part. A scootathlon in which children aged 4-8 years old can attempt a spin on the traditional triathlon (scooter riding replaces the swim) adds to the family atmosphere.
