Mud, Sweat & Gears at the 2016/17 Off-Road Series

17th October 2016

Participants are sure to be covered in both mud and glory when the famously tough Human Race Off-Road Series returns later this year. WildMan (19th November), IceMan (3rd December) and MudMan (11th March) form the series of testing trail run and duathlons. Each are hosted at military venues close to London and are extremely popular, reaching full capacity in 2015/16.

Those brave enough to take on all three of the gruelling challenges can take advantage of a reduced-price package deal, and will be included on the off-road leaderboard giving them the opportunity to win a trophy and some great cash prizes.

The series begins with WildMan held at Ash Ranges near Aldershot on Saturday 19th November. Don’t be deceived by the beautiful countryside surroundings, this is a gruelling undulating course that does not relent. Trail runners can choose from 10k or 15k options, with individual and relay duathlons (10k run, 18k bike, 5k run) also available.

Next up on Saturday 3rd December is IceMan, held at the Army Training Ground in Frimley. The weather is likely to play its part and a mind-bogglingly muddy course will make staying upright a challenge in itself. Those wanting to attempt the trail run can choose from 11k and 16k courses, whilst the duathlon will be a 10k run followed by 18k on the bike and a 5k run to finish, with both individual and relay entries available once again.

After a respite allowing competitors to pause for breath, the monstrous 2016/17 Human Race Off-Road series rears its head for a final time at MudMan on Saturday 11 March. The event returns to the Ministry of Defence in Camberley known for its hilly terrain and 50 foot water section, scene of many a dramatic splashdown over the years. Here you can choose from the individual and relay duathlons (7.5 run, 15k cycle, 7.5 run) or from the 10k and 15k trail run courses.

The courses contain no gimmicks, so it really is just ‘You Vs Nature’, a battle sure to test both the body and mind, but always remaining tremendous fun.

A strictly limited number of entries into the Human Race Off-Road Series are now available. Visit www.humanrace.co.uk/off-road to secure a place in any of the three events, or the entire series at a special-reduced rate. Late entry prices will come into force two weeks before each event in the series.
