The London Winter Wander is BACK for 2020!

8th November 2019

Following its success last year, the London Winter Wander will take to the streets again this February, with a new starting location in Bermondsey for 2020. The aim of the walking event is to help beat isolation and inactivity by getting residents in the capital outside.

Walkers will start from 4 locations around London, on Sunday 9th February, being led in groups to the finish line by Trafalgar Square, where they will join the celebrations of 25,000 Cancer Research UK London Winter Run finishers.

Every finisher will receive a commemorative bespoke medal upon completion of the 60-90-minute walk, along with numerous hugs from polar bears and penguins in Trafalgar Square. Live music and photo opportunities are not to be missed and will be waiting for walkers in the square.

London Sport, working alongside Human Race, support this event in working to achieve their overall aim to change lives by getting one million people in the capital more active. Human Race are responsible for the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run, as well major events such as the Manchester Marathon and Windsor Triathlon.

Nick Rusling, CEO of Human Race, said “We are determined to ensure that our events have a positive impact on those who live and work locally. The physical and mental benefits of meeting up with others and walking are unquestionable, so it was a real no brainer for us to bring this event back for 2020 and add another start location to allow for even more people to participate with ease. The inaugural event was such a huge success, and 2020 doesn’t look to disappoint! Plus we know it’s going to be loads of fun for us and those taking part.”

For those Londoners over the age of 55, you will be eligible to take part from free, with affordable entry for everybody else.

Given the success of the 2019 event, it is likely that event places will sell quickly, so those who are interested in taking part, enter and secure your place now here.
