Lionheart Sportive – One of the best kept secrets of UK cycling
13th October 2015
The Lionheart Sportive will return on Sunday 17 April! We’re really excited about this unique ride and we have put together five of the many reasons why you should join us on the start line.
1. Longleat Safari Park
The sportive starts and finishes in the grounds of this spectacular estate. You start your ride in the shadow of the famous house before taking in a lap of the grounds. This includes the opportunity to cycle right past the famous Lion enclosure, close enough to hear their distinctive growls and catch a glimpse of their mesmerising stares. If friends and family are making the trip to Wiltshire with you we can supply participants with a unique code that will allow them discounted entry to the Safari Park’s attractions on the day.
2. Closed Road Timed Climb
Kingsettle Hill will once again be completely free of traffic for the climb up and past King Alfred’s Tower. This timed section will allow participants to climb with confidence and compare results at the finish with their friends and rivals.
3. Yapp Brothers Feed Station
The marvellous people at Yapp Brothers Wine Merchants will once again be involved in the third feed station on the route. You will have a chance to taste some of their spectacular, award winning wine, and also refuel with some Godminster Organic Cheddar.
4. UK’s Friendliest
In its short history the Lionheart has already earned the title of the UK’s friendliest sportive. The event manages to balance the friendly, tight atmosphere of a local sportive with the professionalism and technology you would expect from a national organiser – giving you the best of both worlds. Participants can expect the same welcoming feed stations and hot home cooked food at the finish line as in previous years.
5. Quality Routes
It’s no coincidence that so many people return each year to re-ride the Lionheart. A huge amount of effort and ingenuity has gone into designing both the 100 mile and 100 km routes to ensure that they live up to their grand reputation. However you don’t just have to take our word for it, Cyclosport awarded the 2014 Lionheart a massive 90% overall, and it featured in many other publications top events of the year lists. You can find out details about both superb routes by visiting the Lionheart page of our website.
So there’s just five of the reasons you should join us for a new adventure at the Lionheart Sportive on 17 April. You will also get the same quality medical support, finish medal, text results and plethora of marshals you would expect from any Human Race cycling event.
