BallBuster defeated by weather
5th November 2019
Saturday 2nd November saw the final event in the 2019 Human Race events calendar, the BallBuster Duathlon.
Set in the stunning South Downs and National Trust site, Box Hill, participants signed up to take on a gruelling 8 mile run, 24 mile bike and another 8 mile run. However, for the first time in 29 years, the 30th edition of the event was called off due to wet and windy conditions.
The event is well known for its challenging course and the autumnal weather put participants through their paces on the run. A call was made by the Event Director to shorten the course to keep the run, bike, run. However, the weather worsened and proved to be unsafe for participants forcing an early end to the event after one lap of the run.
Despite the weather (and Rugby World Cup Final!), the event saw a great turn out from groups and clubs, such as Tri Surrey and Renegade Triathlon.
We would like to express our gratitude to all the participants who braved the conditions and put in a strong effort to tackle the weather and Box Hill, and for their understanding for calling off the event.
A list of times can be found here, and details for 2020 will be released very soon!
