Entries open for pre-marathon favourite Lidl Kingston Breakfast Run

30th November 2016

Entries are now open for the Lidl Kingston Breakfast Run on Sunday 26th March 2017. With distances of 8.2, 16.2 and 20.1 miles on offer, the event is unmissable for runners in the latter stages of their marathon training, as well as those looking to move on from 5km and 10km races. Thanks to its ideal position in the calendar, of the more than 2,500 participants in 2016, 51% were taking part in a spring marathon or another long-distance challenge later in the year.

The 20.1 mile option proves particularly popular as runners seek the structure and motivation of an organised event at which to complete one of their final training runs before their marathon. The distance sold out quickly prior to this year’s event and those wishing to enter in 2017 will need to act fast to avoid disappointment. One individual lucky enough to secure a 20.1 mile place in 2016 was Stuart Farmer, who went on to set a new course record of 1:58:17.

For those with a goal time in mind, there will be pacers running each distance at 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 minutes per mile to ensure runners measure their effort correctly. Starting and finishing in Kingston’s Ancient Market Square, the flat, riverside course is ideal for those looking to perfect their pacing ahead of their big day further down the Thames at the London Marathon or another target event.

Thanks to title sponsor Lidl UK finishers will once again be treated to a fantastic goody bag full of treats specially chosen for post-run refuelling and pampering as well as a much-sought after Lidl Kingston Breakfast Run finisher’s mug.

Nick Rusling, CEO of South West London-based organisers Human Race Events said: “The 2017 Lidl Kingston Breakfast Run will mark 27 years of putting on runs in Kingston for us and we’re as excited about this race as we were for our very first. It’s great to see so many of the same faces returning year after year, as well as welcoming plenty of first time Breakfast Runners for a morning of inspiring achievements. As a local company, the Lidl Kingston Breakfast Run holds a particularly special place in our hearts!”.

Breast Cancer Care are the official charity partner of the Lidl Kingston Breakfast Run and all participants are encouraged to use the event to raise funds for vital support services for anyone affected by breast cancer. There is no minimum fundraising target and it couldn’t be easier to set up a JustGiving donation page when entering the event.
