A message from our CEO

20th March 2020
As the CEO of Human Race, I wanted to update everyone about Human Race and our upcoming events, specifically with regard to those taking place in May, June and July. Despite the enormity of the situation around us, I do know that events matter to a lot of people – winning, finishing, fundraising, losing weight, taking part with friends. We also love organising them for you.

Realistically, all events coming up over the next few months are going to be in question (we’ve already had to postpone the Manchester Marathon and Tour de Yorkshire Ride) and I’m sure you are wondering about your event. Should we take the decision to postpone or cancel we will let you know, but as it’s still only March and the information changes so fast, all planning is to continue at present.

As much as you can, keep training where possible – it’s good for the soul, mind and your health, plus will ensure you don’t waste your training to date. We will be sharing some advice on how best to keep in good shape.

A little insight into something positive – the mass participation sports industry have really come together to share ideas and insights to help make the right decisions with your safety and wellbeing, as well as that of all participants, partners, volunteers and colleagues as our collective top priority. It’s this kindness and support that will be a key feature over the next few months – and will help us take significant positives from the horrendous disruption and disturbance we are going through.

As an optimist by trade, I really feel that many positives will come from this, and working together, being kind and supportive, will all hold us tight. So will keeping fit and healthy. We will be there for you on the other side and we hope that the next finish line will be even more meaningful when it arrives.

Take care

Nick Rusling
