New for 2012, the Nuffield Health Triathlon Challenge offers something for absolutely everyone looking to swim, bike and run. With the three most popular tri distances on offer, this ‘festival of triathlon’ is perfect whether you’re a triathlon expert, a complete novice or if you want to tackle it as part of a team.
The venue for the Nuffield Health Triathlon Challenge could not be more perfect. Dorney Lake is the 2012 Olympic Rowing and Canoeing venue and the number one triathlon location of choice in the South East. The bike and run courses are completely flat and traffic-free while the water for the swim leg is purpose built, clean, clear and calm.
There are three different distances on offer...
Sprint (Half Distance) Triathlon: 750m Swim, 20km Bike, 5km Run
3Quarter Distance Triathlon: 1000m Swim, 30km Bike, 7.5km Run
Standard (Olympic Distance) Triathlon: 1500m Swim, 40km Bike, 10km Run
The Nuffield Health Triathlon Challenge will make a great day out for you and your friends and is a fantastic introduction to the UK’s fastest growing sport. With Nuffield Health on board as the brand new title sponsor, there will also be lots of support with your training, health and racing on the day.
Race details, including timings and wave structure, will be emailed out to all entrants at least two weeks before the race and you will also be able to see them on the website right here on the dedicated race page.
Swim
The swim is either a 750m, 1,000m or 1,500m rectangular course in the lake. The start will be a deep water start right in front of the Boat House – offering great views for spectators from the balcony and waterside.
Bike
The bike course is four laps around the lake for the Sprint Distance (20km), six laps for the 3Q (30km) or 8 laps (40km) for the Standard (Olympic) Distance.
Run
The run is a 2.5km loop, which is completed twice for the Sprint Distance (5km), three times for the 3Q (7.5km) or four times for the Standard (Olympic) Distance (10km). The run will be clockwise round the right hand side of the lake, finishing on the grassed area under the finish gantry.

RaceLocation
The event will be held at the rowing venue for the 2012 Olympic Games. Dorney Lake offers a clean open water swim, followed by a closed bike loop around the Lake, and finally the run goes down the side of the lake, making it the perfect course for beginners and seasoned triathletes alike. It's great for spectators, they can see you on each lap.
Full on-site parking means you can come and go while the event is taking place, we have showers and toilets aplenty and there is catering in the Boathouse.
