2012 is a big year for the UK, with the biggest sporting event in the world descending on London and a Diamond Jubilee to celebrate, it’s going to be party time on the streets of Great Britain.
To commemorate this special year, Human Race have launched a brand new multisport event designed to get everyone involved in the UK’s fastest growing mass participation sport – and with multiple distances on offer, there really is something for everyone!
What’s more, taking place in one of the 2012 Olympic venues and so close to the home of the Royal Family in Windsor, it’s the perfect way to cap a Diamond Year for Great Britain...
Novice Triathlon – 200m swim, 5km bike, 2.5km run
Everyone was new to triathlon at some point in their lives and if this is you in 2012, the novice distance is the perfect event for you. Many of you will have seen triathlon on TV over the past few months and now there’s nothing stopping you giving it a go!
The open water swim is relatively short, but still enough of a challenge for anyone new to swimming out in the open water. The bike is on roads closed to traffic, so you’ll be safe as you make your way round. Lastly the run is nice and flat and features some excellent vantage points for any spectators that want to cheer you on your way.
Super Sprint Triathlon – 400m swim, 10km bike, 2.5km run
The shorter distances are making a resurgence amongst the elites at the moment with the speedy racing making for high-octane spectator sport. From a participant point of view, it’s a great way to take on multisport if your strengths are over shorter distance racing and there are still plenty of challenges in a 400 metre swim, 10km bike and 2.5km run. How fast can you go?
Sprint Triathlon – 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run
The most popular distance on the UK Triathlon scene, the sprint triathlon is a great event in its own right and an excellent way to build speed and endurance for an Olympic distance race further down the line.
A 750 metre swim will see you take on one large lap in the calm, clear waters of Dorney Lake followed by a multi-lap course around the grounds of Eton’s premier sporting location. The run offers a number of great places for spectators to cheer you on and as its fast and flat, you’ll be sure to post a speedy time.
Olympic Triathlon – 1500m swim, 40km bike, 10km run
The big one. Olympic year means Olympic distance. By the time the Diamond Tri takes place, you’ll have seen the world’s best take on the iconic swim, bike run event so why not get involved yourself?
Dorney Lake is the perfect place to do it with its purpose built lake, smooth roads and sporting legacy. Come on down and take on the 1.5k, 40k, 10k event at the Diamond Tri.
Team Relay Challenge – 400m swim, 15km bike, 5km run
Triathlon doesn’t have to be a solo sport and the relay version of the event is growing in popularity every year. Get your friends involved and ramp up the competition to new levels. You can compete for your club, your charity, your pub or your school, its open to everyone! The format for the Team Relay Challenge is teams of 3 people, first person swim, hands to the next person who swims etc. last swimmer hands over to the first biker (who swam first) etc etc.

The event will be held at the Olympic rowing venue for the 2012 Olympic Games. Dorney Lake offers a clean open water swim, followed by a closed bike loop around the Lake, and finally the run goes down the side of the lake, making it the perfect course for beginners and seasoned triathletes alike. It's great for spectators, they can see you on each lap.
Full on-site parking means you can come and go while the event is taking place, we have showers and toilets aplenty and there is catering in the Boathouse.
