We are pleased to announce the return of the Race Your Pace Half Marathon at Dorney Lake, Eton (near Windsor) – a stunning location for a half marathon. We are also proud to have the Runner’s World Pace Team in attendance, who will offer runners the opportunity to understand and experience one of the key factors in running a successful race – pace judgement. This pancake-flat, four-lap course is ideal for you to find your correct pace and to smash your PB and timed to fit in with preparations in the run up to the Virgin London Marathon.
There will be Runner's World Pacers for 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 mins per mile.
Whether you’re a running veteran or a first time marathon runner, we highly recommend that you build this event into your running calendar to help you stay ahead of the game and really crack race day.
Don’t forget to wear a watch and look out for your pacer.
The start line is a quarter of the way down “the island”, approximately a 10 min walk from the finish area. You will run in an anti-clockwise direction around the lake. The course has been measured and verified by Hugh Jones, former London Marathon winner, IAAF Olympic course measurer and London Marathon course measurer, so it will have very accurate mile markers in position. We are the first to admit that the course is not particularly interesting but it is really flat, and the four-lap course allows you to pace yourself correctly. After completing your fourth lap, there’s a short finish straight with the finish line just in front of the Boathouse. There is one water station and one Lucozade station on the course which means that both are available on each lap of the run (at 3.5 miles, 7 miles and 10 miles). The water will be available in plastic cups, and Lucozade Sport in the smaller 330ml bottles.
Over 1,300 runners entered the 2012 Race Your Pace Half Marathon, and entries will be limited to a similar number in 2013.
All finishers will receive a race medal.
