The first race in the Human Race Off-Road Series is here, and it's WildMan!
The course is set on an army testing ground of Ash Ranges, which is located near to Aldershot, South of J4 of M3 along A331.
The conditions under foot and wheel are testing for even the hardiest of athletes, which as anyone who loves winter racing will know, is what makes it so much fun!
The WildMan Off-Road Duathlon will kick off with a 10k run in wet boggy trails through heather morrland. The 18k bike course is quite varied technically with a number of slow hilly sections mixed in with fast rolling hills through the heather and muddy tracks. Following on from this you’ll have to get through another 5k run – trust us, your legs will be pushed to the limits.
Trail Running with added pain!
Whichever trail run you choose will mean hills, mud and then some more hills. You’ll have to save something on the ups for the downhill bits or your quads will be complaining.
Take a peek at what’s in store...
If you’re still wondering what WildMan might have in store for you, why not take a look at some of the pictures from last time out. You’ll see mud, hills, bikes, dogs, a bit of water, some tired faces and a surprising amount of smiling going on. Check out the gallery here.
The Human Race Off Road Race Series
WildMan is the first race in the 2014/15 Human Race Off-Road Race Series, now established as the UK’s premier winter multisport series. All of the races in the series are not for the faint hearted and each event will test your strength, stamina and ability. The emphasis is on taking on the challenge and surviving the course so you can take home lots of great memories in the process!
After series openers WildMan and MudMan have helped you see off 2014 in style it’s IceMan up next. Then the series heads over to the fast firetracks of TrailMan.
The Series Leaderboard
In 2012/13 the Duathlon Series Leaderboard led to some pretty stiff competition across the races in both the male and female categories. That doesn’t mean the series is just for the speed demons though, consistency is everything and simply completing the events is something to be proud of.
Trail Running Series Leaderboard
The Duathlon Series Leaderboard will be joined by a Trail Running Championship. Points will be awarded for the top fifty finishers in the longer of the two Trail Runs at each event with some great prizes on offer for the overall Series Champions. Each event features differing terrain designed to play to the strengths (and expose the weaknesses) of different types of athlete at every turn. Hill runners, demon descenders and those that can run quickly over suspect terrain will find themselves well catered for!
Canicross and Running with your Dog
As with the last Series, running with dogs is welcome at the WildMan and all the other events in the Human Race Trail Running Series. There are a growing (and very friendly) contingent of dogs and their owners taking part in the Trail Runs so why not come on down and join in the fun!
