About the event

tri for life presents The Woburn Abbey Triathlon, set in one of the most spectacular locations in Bedfordshire. One of the UK’s most loved triathlons, it has become famed for its iconic venue and unrivalled family experience and is increasingly becoming recognised in the triathlon calendar as an event to take part in before the season finishes.

2017 saw the event take a leap into becoming one of the UK’s largest triathlons with the new and improved WoBurner middle distance and the open water swim in the larger lake in front of the Abbey.

Now in its 10th year, tri for life has raised over £2.4m for its charity partners. In 2018 tri for life will continue to raise vital funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Melanoma Focus.

Zone3 has won more industry design awards than any other wetsuit brand, including the first ever and only 10/10 review from 220 Triathlon Magazine and many others including Best in Class, Top Value and Game Changer of the year.

Their product-first philosophy and commitment to excellence ensures a range suitable for athletes of all levels, helping maximise performance and enjoyment within the sport.

You can purchase or hire a Zone3 wetsuit to make sure you’re fully prepared for your event at the Human Race Hub here.

You can:

  • Hire a wetsuit for a month (yours for a month from the date you hire it, so you can try it out before the race and on event day) for £50
  • Hire a wetsuit for the season (until 7th October 2018) for £60
  • Purchase any of the range of Zone3 wetsuit outright

We are often asked if wetsuits have to be worn at our events. But the wearing of wetsuits in triathlon is governed by British Triathlon rules and is totally dependent on water temperature one hour before the start of the event.

Water Temperature Wetsuit Rule
Water Temp less than 14 degrees Wetsuits are COMPULSORY
Water temp 14 – 22 degrees Wetsuits are OPTIONAL
Water temp above 22 degrees Wetsuits are BANNED

We do say that wetsuits in fact help with buoyancy and warmth, so we strongly recommend that you wear one if they are optional. We will keep you updated with water temperature as we get closer to the event but at Dorney Lake it is almost always an optional wetsuit swim.
