About the event
Prowling into its sixth year, The Lionheart has worked hard to establish itself as one of the UK’s most favoured cyclosportives. Organised by an inventive bunch of cyclists, The Lionheart’s early season following is rightfully deserved. Voted once again as one of the top sportives of 2014 by ‘Cyclosport’ readers; we’re back in the saddle enjoying the splendour of Longleat Estate as the start and finish point of The Lionheart Cyclosportive.
Back by popular demand, both 100 mile and 100km routes exploit this fantastically scenic corner of South West England. With a closed road hill climb testing your speed and your spirit, this is characterful cycling terrain make no mistake.
With 5 years of glowing reviews from riders tucked securely under its mane, The Lionheart is a perfect early season ride, that will really stretch out your winter legs. An abundance of rolling hills, fantastic views and fast descents – with the added thrill of riding close to the big cats at Longleat – riders can be assured of a challenging and memorable day.

Charity & Fundraising
CLIC Sargent is thrilled to be the official charity partner for the Lionheart Sportive for a second year. We are the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. We provide clinical, practical and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life.
Our aim is to raise £10,000 from the event to help provide our vital services. One of the services we offer is a grant. CLIC Sargent grants are given to families after a child is diagnosed with cancer to stop unexpected costs like hospital parking becoming a problem. Since October 2014, CLIC Sargent has provided over £10,000 in grants to 55 Wiltshire families.
Daryl from Wiltshire, was diagnosed with leukaemia in April 2015 aged 12. Daryl says, ‘I think it’s amazing what CLIC Sargent do for patients and their families. I still have a long way to go with my treatment, but knowing I have the support of CLIC Sargent, it takes a lot off our minds.’
Your support means we can be there to help more young cancer patients like Daryl. Thank you.
Positive Action on Cancer is thrilled to be chosen as the Silver Charity and part of the “pride” for the Lionheart Sportive. Last year participants pedalled their way to raising over £5,700 to support their counselling services for patients and families affected by cancer and other life threatening illnesses. We hope that once again riders tackling and taming the hills and landscape around Longleat (including the infamous lions!) will put their best foot forward to help PAC continue its vital work.
Starting its life as a telephone helpline in 1994, PAC has grown from strength to strength and now offers counselling for adults and children across Somerset, Wiltshire and Bath and North East Somerset.
PAC receives no central government funding and relies on voluntary donations from individuals, local businesses and grant-making trusts to fund their vital services. “Lifeline’ is the word that people most often use to describe PAC’s service and 250 people contact them for help each year. Any contributions whether large or small are of great value to them.
