The Nuffield Health Eton SuperSprint triathlons are widely regarded as the official start of the UK triathlon season. Taking place at the fantastic Eton Dorney Lake, one of the iconic venues of the 2012 Olympic Games, the SuperSprint Saturday event starts with a 400m open water swim in the clear, clean waters of the rowing lake before taking to the closed, flat road circuit for a 4-lap bike course covering 21.2k. The final 5k run follows an out and back course along the side of the rowing tank on tarmac paths.
The venue provides the ideal environment for first time triathletes or experienced athletes looking to get an early season time under their belt and there’s always a buzzing atmosphere for both participants and supporters alike.
Each day will offer two MATES WAVES, in which friends will be able to race together; there is limited capacity for these popular waves, so get in quick if you can
Please note that these are the 2017 wave times and are NOT the confirmed 2018 wave times. These will be posted on the website one month before the event.
Minimum Age 15 at 31 December, 2018.
The relevant rules and regulations can be read in the BTF Rulebook.
If you are not a current member of Triathlon England, Triathlon Scotland or the Welsh Triathlon Association, you will be liable to pay a£6 day membership fee at registration (£3 for Youth & Juniors). Regret cash only, no credit cards. Please show your race licence at registration.
British Triathlon Rule Number 8.1 states “Any equipment that acts as an impediment to hearing or concentration is prohibited from use during an event (including transition). This includes, but is not limited to, mobile telephones (which should be switched off if stored in transition), personal stereos and MP3 players.”
Whilst having a BTF licence covers your liability to take part in our events it doesn’t cover your equipment. Why not check out the equipment section and our partner Yellow Jersey Cycle Insurance to see what they can offer?
We are often asked if wetsuits have to be worn at our events. But the wearing of wetsuits in triathlon is governed by British Triathlon rules and is totally dependent on water temperature one hour before the start of the event. Read the wetsuit rule for triathlons HERE.
Continuing our partnership with Zone3 for 2017, they are here to offer you one of the fastest ranges of wetsuits on the market to hire or buy, perfect for our events.
Zone3 has quickly become one of the most exciting and successful brands on the market thanks to its high performance products which year on year have achieved the highest industry reviews based on speed, comfort, price point and innovation.
Zone3 are offering their Advance wetsuit as part of their hire service for Human Race events. The Advance has won many awards including 220 Triathlon magazine’s “Best Buy” award and has become the market leader for first-timers and those on a budget. The suit is made from super flexible, highly buoyant neoprene for an assured swim performance.
You can purchase or hire a Zone3 wetsuit to make sure you’re fully prepared for your event at the Human Race Hub here.
Please note: the booking deadline to get your wetsuit in time for the event is 5.30pm the Wednesday before the race.
We are often asked if wetsuits have to be worn at our events. But the wearing of wetsuits in triathlon is governed by British Triathlon rules and is totally dependent on water temperature one hour before the start of the event.
|Water Temperature||Wetsuit Rule|
|Water Temp less than 14 degrees||Wetsuits are COMPULSORY|
|Water temp 14 – 22 degrees||Wetsuits are OPTIONAL|
|Water temp above 22 degrees||Wetsuits are BANNED|
We do say that wetsuits in fact help with buoyancy and warmth, so we strongly recommend that you wear one if they are optional. We will keep you updated with water temperature as we get closer to the event but at Dorney Lake it is almost always an optional wetsuit swim.
