At Human Race, we understand your event entry is important and that sometimes you enter events but certain circumstances mean you can’t take part. Our withdrawal policy lets you withdraw from an event either for a full refund or less an admin fee, and you can transfer your entry to another individual or event for a small fee. On top of this we now offer Registration Protection which gives you the chance to claim a full refund of your entry fee and booking fee (T&Cs apply). What is Registration Protection?
Registration Protection, administered by Booking Protect, is an optional opt-in that enables you to purchase coverage for the total cost of your registration and booking fees. If you sign up to an event of ours and are unable to attend for a reason covered by Registration Protection, you can contact Booking Protect to file a refund application and receive compensation.
What is covered with Registration Protection?
Registration Protection covers the full entry fee – this means the full entry price and booking fee.
For what reason will I be able to claim a refund?
The core refund circumstances of Registration Protection which are covered (subject to T&Cs) are:
- Any pre-existing medical conditions that prevent you from taking part in the event or pregnancy
- Death, accident or illness to you or your immediate family
- Adverse weather conditions
- Private vehicle breakdown, fire and theft
- Public transport disruption or failure
- Jury service or court summons
- Summoned unexpectedly by armed forces
- Redundancy or relocation
- Burglary or fire at your residence

How do I add Registration Protection to my entry?
To purchase Registration Protection simply select the option to add it to your purchase at the checkout page when entering your event.
How do I file a refund application?
You may submit a refund application via Booking Protect’s easy-to-use online portal: www.bookingprotect.com/refund
If my refund application is successful, when will I receive the payment?
After an application has been approved with the necessary documentation, Booking Protect transfers the funds directly to your bank account.
Can I cancel my Registration Protection?
Yes, you can contact Booking Protect to cancel your purchase up to 14 days after start of the booked event for any reason – no questions asked. Once the event has taken place though you are not able to cancel for obvious reasons. To cancel visit http://cancel.bookingprotect.com and fill out the form.
Can I purchase Registration Protection after I have entered the event?
Unfortunately not, Registration Protection must be purchased during event registration.
Do I have to purchase Registration Protection?
Absolutely not. Registration Protection is an optional addition for event participants.
What is the cost of Registration Protection?
Booking Protect’s flexible pricing matches the cost of Registration Protection to any race category.
What if I purchased event merchandise or other additional items during the entry process?
Any additional items purchased such as merchandise or a donation to charity are not covered and will not be refunded even if your claim is accepted.
How does this affect the Human Race withdrawals policy?
It doesn’t. This just gives you an additional chance to get a refund if you can’t make it to the event. The normal Human Race withdrawals policy still applies where you can get a full or partial refund, or transfer your entry to another individual or event. Click here to view our withdrawals policy.
