The first St. Lucia Triathlon took place on the island this weekend as almost 150 international and local triathletes raced at the beautiful Landings resort. The triathlon attracted competitors from the UK, USA, Martinique, Trinidad and Tobago and elsewhere in the Caribbean who raced over various distances. The event also included a kids' triathlon and aquathlon which attracted a host of local kids, many of whom are coached by St. Lucian Olympic swimmer and race director Jamie Peterkin.
Human Race has teamed up with St. Lucian Olympic swimmer Jamie Peterkin who is a supporter of the St. Lucia Triathlon. Jamie and his father David are passionate about getting children swimming and taking part in triathlon on the island of St. Lucia where shockingly 85% of the island’s population cannot swim.
